We are pleased to release the public consultation report and revised disability worker registration standards following consultation about registration standards with disability sector stakeholders.

We consulted with people with disability and their families, disability workers, service providers and peak bodies on the three registration standards that apply to registered disability workers – criminal history, English language requirements and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). We listened to the feedback and made changes to make it easier for disability workers to understand and comply with the standards. The revised registration standards take effect on 1 October 2025.

We also heard feedback from the sector that people value disability worker registration and believe it increases the quality and safety of services provided to people with disability.
